Richard and Veronica Stevens retire early so they can pursue other interests. Shortly after moving to Daytona Beach, Florida Veronica gets involved with a local domestic abuse shelter. She works as a volunteer advocate. One day a young Mexican woman shows up at the shelter severely beaten and fearing for her life.
