Genetic diversity of Karanja accessions were evaluated with Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) and Inter Simple Sequence Repeats (ISSR) markers. In present study low level of genetic diversity was observed among the karanj genotypes. Average RPI, PIC and MI value for RAPD primers were 2.09, 0.25 and 18.06 respectively; while for ISSR marker it was 0.66, 0.08 and 4.48 respectively. Genetic diversity analysis by Isozyme marker viz., POX (peroxidase), PPO (polyphenol oxidase ), EST (esterase) and SOD(superoxide dismutase) scores total 19 isozyme loci in 30 accessions of Karanja. Highest...

An efficient in vitro plant regeneration and Agrobacterium tumefaciens mediated genetic transformation protocol was described for castor (Ricinus communis L.) using meristem as explants. Shoot apex containing apical meristems were excised from 5-7 days old in vitro grown seedlings and cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with different concentrations of cytokinins singly or in combination. Kinetin (0.50 mg/l) in combination with BAP (0.25 mg/l) produced maximum number of shoot (10.33) and shoot length (5.20 cm). For root induction, in vitro produced shoots were transferred...

Transgenic rice with cleavable chimeric polyprotein was generated. The polyprotein precursor consists of a leader peptide and two different antimicrobial proteins (AMPs); Dm-AMP1 and Rs-AFP2. Plants transformed with polyprotein construct showed significantly improved disease resistance against Magnaporthe oryzae and Rhizoctonia solani. The chimeric polyprotein was cleaved and present in equimolar concentration in transgenic rice, and the individual AMPs were secreted into the extracellular space. The results of in vitro, in planta, and microscopic analyses suggest that chimeric polyprotein...

Co-inoculation of Rhizobium leguminosarum, Azotobacter chroococcum, Azospirillum brasilense, Pseudomonas fluorescens and Bacillus spp. enhances their population synergistically in soil which may leads to development in root nodules. In addition they also increase available nutrients (N, P, K, and Fe) to plants and help in the uptake of nutrients by plants and promote growth of the plant. The differences in plant growth promotion among the isolates are attributed to their individual competencies. Consortia 2 (T2 + T4+ T5 + T6 + T11) and Consortia 1 (T2 + T3+ T5 + T6 + T11) were most potent in...
