Candida is an opportunistic commensal of the human oral, gastrointestinal, vaginal, cutaneous and mucosal surfaces. Risk factors that increase incidence of Candida infections are associated with compromised immunity. The currently available drugs have low efficacy, high toxicity and frequently lead to drug resistance.
