Brasilien hat eine der größten Biodiversitäten der Welt und mehrere Hotspots, die über das gesamte Land verteilt sind, insbesondere im Atlantischen Wald. Obwohl die brasilianische Gesetzgebung viele ökologisch relevante Gebiete schützt, gibt es immer noch wenige Studien, die belegen, ob diese durch Schutzgebiete (Conservation Units, UC) geschützten Orte die Gebiete berücksichtigen, die als vorrangig für den Umweltschutz angesehen werden. In diesem Buch soll untersucht werden, inwieweit die Vorranggebiete mit Hilfe von Geoprocessing-Tools in die UCs eingefügt werden.
