Les Rengstorff grew up in West Frankfort, Illinois. He graduated from Milligan College in east Tennessee with degrees in Bible and Business Administration. He was ordained at the First Christian Church in West Frankfort. From East Tennessee he moved to Los Angeles, California where he applied for a temporary 3 month job with IBM while he was serving at the Alvarado Christian Church in Los Angeles.
