By the late of 2010, a tidal wave of protests emerged and quickly engulfed much of the Arab world, in a snowball fashion, in a phenomena which is commonly called as the Arab Spring. In a number of key countries (e.g., Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Syria, Yemen), long-standing autocratic regimes were toppled. The main focus of this thesis is on the Egyptian case, as a cornerstone country in the sequence of Arab Spring uprisings.
