Charles Keltz was born in Cherry Gove, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati. In 1954 he was born into a middle class family where his father was a member of the sheet metal union and his mother was a stay at home mom. He attended grade school at St. Thomas More and high school at McNicholas High. He attended college in 1975 to1977, 1980 to1984 and from 1989 to1993. He found out that he enjoyed studying oriental history and the history of the Roman Empire. As his years past he went to the Orient in 1988 and 1989.
