As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, the 9/11 terrorist attack
and the U.S.-led war on terrorism have been given extensive coverage worldwide.
How have the media visually reported these violent events? This work
focuses on the visual reporting of 9/11 and the war in Afghanistan. A particular
focus is set on comparing the visual coverage in English- and Arabiclanguage
transnational newspapers and on investigating how news practitioners
perceive and justify the selection of graphic photographs related to
