One day, as Elmer is strolling through the jungle, he hears a cry for help. A butterfly has been trapped in a hole by a fallen branch. Elmer rushes to the rescue and frees her with ease. In return she promises to help Elmer should he ever need it - which might be sooner than he thinks.

Elmer and the other elephants are waiting for the storm to end so they can see the beautiful, colourful rainbow. But something dreadful has happened: the rainbow has come out too soon and has lost its colours Elmer decides to give his own colours to the rainbow. One night, Elmer hears the sound of crying. It's Baby Elephant and he can't sleep because he has lost his teddy. Elmer spends the whole of the next day looking for the teddy and eventually finds it.

At the first hint of chill in the air, Elmer's friends start complaining about the cold, so Elmer decides to show them what cold weather is really like. They set off for a walk up a mountain, and the higher they go the colder it gets. The elephants agree that compared with the freezing mountain top, their home is not really that cold at all.
