Werner Reinisch (*1930) is the oldest active German painter in France, where he has lived and worked for around 60 years. This makes him a living symbol of Franco-German friendship. In 2023, the Elysee Treaty, which laid the foundation for Franco-German reconciliation and cooperation between the states, will celebrate its 60th anniversary.
