For one hundred fifty years, the Jewish residents of Scranton have contributed to the vitality of the city. In the nineteenth century, Jews immigrated to Scranton from Germany and eastern Europe, and Russian resettlement families arrived during the twentieth century. As merchants and manufacturers, they sold diamonds and groceries and produced dental supplies and ginger ale.
