This is the posthumous work of Begona Aretxaga (1960-2002), whose research focused on gender and political violence in Northern Ireland as well as nationalism among Basque youth. Aretxaga was interested in the cultural politics of state violence and the formation of political subjectivities. She was critically concerned with multiple genealogies of violence and saw her own work as an experimental form of anthropology grounded in the experiences of oridinary people.
