This is a story about a fictitious person named Tom tied to actual historical events people and places. Tom spends his first seven years in Pennsylvania while his father explores what is to become the state of Michigan. Tom spends a winter in Richland, Ohio and travels to the Michigan wilderness where his life is intertwined with Chief Baw Beese and his son of the Potawatomi Indian nation.
