Buddhism came to Indonesia in the fifth century AD. Theravada Buddhism arrived and lived briefly in Indonesia. Subsequently, Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism had dominated Indonesia from seventh to fifteenth century during which Indonesia had close relations with India.
