In Fried Oyster Sandwich, Pastor Gross presents the alternative history that follows a Confederate victory in the war fought to achieve its independence. He attempts to describe it first from the view of the Kaufmann family, then from that of professional media people of the time. In Appendix A, he describes how the Confederates won the war. All characters in Appendix A are real people. In the novel itself, some monarchs are real, but the talking characters are all fictitious.
