This book depicts the twists and turns of an immigrant in the New World. His family separate by the war, Reinhard Teichmann was smuggled out of East Germany as a child, educated in West Germany's 'Gymnasiums', and later followed his mother to the new continent. He hitched down Route 66, shared life with the San Francisco hippies and explored Latin America, Indiana Jones style. After obtaining a PHD from UCLA, he made a career as a university professor, fulfilling his American dream.
