Wallove, King of the Sea, is going about his usual business of hunting food, especially that delicious dish Sidney Squid. Down, down into the deep, dark ocean, Whallove swims until at last he finds the giant squid. But just before attacking his doomed prey, Whallove sees the fear in Sid's eyes and is struck with sudden pity. He lets his frightened dinner escape He had never before questioned the Ocean Way of "Eat or be Eaten." But today his conscience burned and he started to wrestle with that fact that earth's creatures, including himself, live only by the deaths of other, weaker forms....
