Who Is My Father? is Choko Ishigaki's autobiographical journey to discover her father's identity. Her journey takes her to a new country and a new family she didn't know she had. Her journey is also one of self-discovery, in which she learns about the tension in such modern-day issues as Christianity in Japan, feminism, children's rights, women's rights, and cultural diversity. Along her journey of self-discovery, Choko Ishigaki composes many tanka (Japanese poetry). Each tanka appears in Japanese and in English translation, numbering 168 poems in total.
