The chicks and their coop pets discover a flag pole in the barnyard. They decide to make an American flag for it, so off they go the the Chick Mall West to buy the necessary materials. A number of adventures await them, including their discovery of the pledge of allegiance to the flag. After they make their flag, they hoist it on the barnyard flagpole and pledge their allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.

This bedtime storybook is based on Debralee Lyndon's popular internet cartoon characters, The Chicks. Chick school is over for the summer, and the chicks are bored, so after receiving a mail invitation, they go to the Bear Factory, where they can build their own Teddy Bear and get a free lunch. Following signs and instructions, they go from each department to the next, and with the help of a big yellow robot arm, they add eyes, ears, feet, and nose then stuff and paint their bear. At the end, the reader is asked to provide a name for the Chicks' new bear.

The Chicks found an old treasure map inside a box, and they decided to go on a treasure hunt using the map as a guide. The map took them on a train, a red tractor, a hot air baloon, a C-130 airplane, parachutes, a sail boat, a yellow bus, roller skates, a po-go stick, and a covered wagon. Finally arriving at the Death Valley desert, they found the treasure chest in a haunted cave. The chest contained many wonderful things, including a very special prehistoric item.

Chick Charly bought new tools at his favorite yard sale in order to build a new mini-coop for the young chicks and their pets. First the foundation, then the floor, then the frame, and finally the roof were all constructed with Charly's new tools and help from other chicks and the neighbors.
