The story is about a nine year old girl named Araceli. She lives with her mother and grandmother in a small New Mexico border town. Mother works part time while grandmother takes care of the house, and when Araceli is home. They own very little, but are grateful for everything they have. Araceli learns at a young age if there is something she wants, she has to work for it. The story takes you through Araceli's adventures while trying to find a way to surprise Mama with a special hat for Easter Sunday. Araceli gets rewarded in more than one way.
