Trouble at Wicker School, -Stealing is a Crime- and -Don't be a Bully- are stories using animals who take on human characteristics and traits. These stories are meant for children ages 5 through 8 years of age. Children should be taught at an early age to establish proper manners, values and behaviors. Hopefully this will prepare them for adulthood. After each story, the reader will find some suggestions on how to carry the stories further through role playing, puppetry, art, writing and other examples.

The story is about a nine year old girl named Araceli. She lives with her mother and grandmother in a small New Mexico border town. Mother works part time while grandmother takes care of the house, and when Araceli is home. They own very little, but are grateful for everything they have. Araceli learns at a young age if there is something she wants, she has to work for it. The story takes you through Araceli's adventures while trying to find a way to surprise Mama with a special hat for Easter Sunday. Araceli gets rewarded in more than one way.
