Brooke Sunter's life is collapsing around her. Until recently a teller at the local credit union, a botched robbery sees her taken hostage, beaten, shot, and finally mistaken for the criminal.

Unemployed and thrown out of her apartment, Brooke winds up sleeping on the couch of her neighbors Patty and Ben-an arrangement that doesn't sit well with the jealous Patty.
