The most popular, true murder story in the Southeast. It happened in Ferguson North Carolina in the 1800's, as a result of a love triangle involving Laura, Ann and Pauline Foster. All of which are first cousins, in love with Tom Dooley. Even as far back as this story goes, the New York Times sent a reporter to Ferguson to cover the story. This gives you an idea of how interesting the story is. It was again enlivened when the Kingston Trio came out with skyrocketing popularity with their version of "Hang down you head Tom Dooley."
