Sea level rise has been accelerating worldwide and consequently in South Florida. By 2060, scientists believe that the sea level in the city of Key West will reach between 22.86 to 60.96 centimeters (Strauss et al. 2012). The effects of a rapidly rising sea level are clear in coastal cities; higher storm surges, higher tides and frequent flooding including the complete inundation of some low lying cities.
