In Accra, Ghana, brothers Baako and Adofo grow up hearing stories about their ancestors and the mysterious creatures and spirits surrounding them. One of the most dangerous of these creatures is the Obtuse Bear.

The Obtuse Bear is found in the middle of the wilderness, in a cage built by an unknown entity. The Obtuse can talk and enjoys conversation with others. He pleads with anyone who will listen to help him out of his cage. But no one ever should.

Baako scoffs at this story. No such bear could exist. He insults the elders and storms home. It isn't until later that he remembers...
