A serious problem with many Christian leaders is that of organizing and managing these spiritual resources. If laborers for spiritual harvest are few as the Bible indicates, then they should be properly organized and mobilized. Human growth occurs through the multiplication of living cells and the development of a skeleton to support them. For the body of Christ to grow, structure is also important. A local church cannot redeem a situation where it has made no effort to understand its position. This study defines strategic thinking as an attitude of mind towards the overall life and ministry of a church. It is about a partnership between God and his local gathered community, the church. It is meant to be a creative partnership whereby, with God's help, any local church can be enabled to discern what needs to be done in order to bring about growth.

Church administration equips the church to be the church and to do the work of the church in a coherent and comprehensive manner. It is the guidance provided by church leaders as they lead the church to use its spiritual, human, physical, and financial resources to move the church toward reaching its objectives and fulfilling its purpose. Church administration enables the people of God who make up the church to become and do what they can become and do, by God's grace.
