NASA's Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) mission is a four-spacecraft Solar Terrestrial Probe mission to study magnetic reconnection, a fundamental plasma physical process in which energy stored in a magnetic field is converted into the kinetic energy of charged particles and heat.
