Written by Howard R. Driggs and illustrated by Rulon Hales in 1952 for children and young adult readers George the Handcart Boy relates the true story of George Harrison, who crossed the plains with the Martin Handcart Company when he was only 14 years old. Falling ill along the way, he leaves his family and the handcart company to be cared for by a Native American family. As the story unfolds he joins his older brother at Ft. Bridger and they travel West together to finally reunite with their family in the valleys of what is now Utah. This is a facsimile edition with historical end notes.
