In what would be the great extinction of mankind, the survivors of Earth group themselves into two desperate factions: one that buries themselves deep in the ground, hoping to wait out the hazardous conditions on the surface, and one that flings themselves to the stars, on a generational starship that will take 200 years to travel to a potentially habitable new star system.
