India has a long history of education. Since Vedic period, India has guru-shishya parambara in which the students stayed with the guru in monasteries and temples of learning, who patronized his disciples as his own children and part of the family. This Vedic education is a fine combination of philosophy, astronomy, mathematics, spirituality, formation of character, development of personality, cultivation of civil and social sense, promotion of social efficacy, preservation and spread of local culture.
