The concept of multiphase series-connected machines is studied in the present book through covering five, six, and seven-phase cases. Theoretical background of the concept is at first presented. Also, the main advantages and drawbacks of the concept, when compared with an equivalent three-phase multimotor drive system, are addressed. Mathematical derivations and simulation proof of independent vector control, achievable with this system, are presented for the three cases. These models are implemented and tested using Matlab/simulink facilities.
