After dropping out of college, quitting smoking cigarettes, and attempting suicide, Mel moves to Agoura Hills, California with her distant father as she tries to overcome depression. Under new medication with a new job and making a new friend, things are looking up. But when she meets one of her neighbors, someone uneasily familiar, she gets sucked into a maddening investigation in order to find out where she knows the disconcerting girl from.
