Winter 1830 and England is ravaged by agricultural rioting. In Larkhill, Harriet has to contend with arsonists and machine-breakers as well as with the arrival of the new Earl of Morna with his handsome companion. When a neighbour is found dead in mysterious circumstances and rumours bring danger, Rupert and Harriet must put aside their differences to solve the crime.
