Jaffa, one of the oldest cities in Israel, has undergone many changes over the centuries. It was settled at different times by Phoenicians, Romans and Jews. It was repeatedly conquered by various rulers and nations such as the Crusaders, Baybars the Mameluke, the Ottomans, and Napoleon. Each ruler demolished and rebuilt it and only remnants of the construction of Mohammed Abu Nabot, the Turkish ruler of Jaffa, were kept to this day. Today we visited the places that were developed after Jaffa' residents left outside of the city walls. The overcrowding and congestion inside the walls caused annoyance for all residents within the city walls. Because of that, the walls were breached and people began to build homes in adjacent territories. With the start of the construction outside the walls, new religious and services buildings built in the new residential neighborhoods.
