Laura is a naive young girl who has grown up in difficult circumstances in a poor town. She has to fend for herself most of the time as her mother works away from home and is only home every third weekend. Struggling through the trials and tribulations of puberty, this overweight teenager meets Suzelle, a young woman who has also travelled a similar path to Laura, and who becomes her best friend.
