Shelby, an idealistic border collie, and her science-obsessed owner, Kalvin, learn of the town's plan to get rid of their dear friend Maggie and the magical life they have grown to know. Refusing to accept the grim situation, Shelby initiates a bold course of action.

A busybody chiwow-wow mix and a stubborn old schnauzer join forces with the ambitious border collie. The eccentric trio-Tiffi, Fred, and Shelby-work behind the scenes to rally an inactive community into action.
