Elfie Wilkins-Nacht was born in Italy to a world torn apart by the Great Depression and World War II. The impact of war and injustice became fodder for her photography, assemblages, paintings. Fleeing to America she was able to direct her first hand experiences of oppression into art reflecting the Feminist Movement of the 1980's and her struggle to find peace within herself through resolution about the effects of war on her family and her life.
