"I Heard a Voice Like the Salted Air" and other songs for mezzo soprano & piano are a set of pieces inspired by nature themes. These are at an intermediate level, and they are expressive pieces that are ideal for undergraduate voice majors and anyone who loves to sing. "Sea of Strings" is a series created for harp ensembles to play. Pieces are arranged so that harp 1 can be played as a solo, both parts may be played as a duet, or a harp quartet/ensemble can assign one staff line per player. Fingerings have been left out since these will change whether the two grand staves are played as duets or if each staff is divided between two hands. Pieces are in the key of C for ease of reading, and to accommodate small harps without levers. This series may also be used on other instruments such as piano or string ensemble. "Remembrance" for solo lever or pedal harp is a collection of hymns chosen specifically to instill a sense of peace. These selections are appropriate for memorial services, and any service where instilling peace and hope are the goal. The ice covered Europa is one of the principle moons of Jupiter. The sound world, which is meant to evoke this frigid environment, is created by using the high registers of both the clarinet and piano and by using square, metrical, brittle rhythms. In the first two movements, motives, and sometimes entire sections, are repeated in retrograde or inversion to further enhance this image of reflective ice.
