Dakśiṇa Kosala has a long and interesting numismatic history commencing from Punch-marked coins. Rulers of Nala and Śarabhapuriya, most probably issued the commemorative medals which are treated as coins by few scholars. Subsequently, after the lapse of many centuries, Kalachuris again commenced the local coinage of Chhattisgarh.
