The Muslim female protagonists in the selected novels, Ahdaf Souif's Aisha (1983), Azar Nafisi's Reading Lolita in Tehran (2003), Monica Aly's Brick Lane (2004) and Mohja Kahf's The Girl in Tangerine Scarf (2006), have passed through the same circumstances in the different communities they moved to. The novels show the sufferings women face in their lives especially from the male characters surrounding them.
