This story is about Bud Greene escaping from an unhappy, sheltered life by going on a life-changing adventure. He starts breaking the rules he has so carefully followed, beginning with driving a Cadillac off the lot without paying for it. Now he is off on a road trip, doing what he likes, meeting an array of characters, learning about the world he has hidden from.
