In 1983 three wild dormice were trapped in Wiltshire and a captive breeding colony was established, 1992 the first re-introduction of captive bred dormice into Hertfordshire, took place and led to setting up of the Common Dormouse Captive Breeders Group, CDCBG, in 1995, and the return of dormice into many counties throughout England organised by English Nature.
