A sailor with amnesia crashes his sailboat on a tiny, uncharted island where he finds the key to unlocking the truth about human evolution. His bumbling upon the island triggers a chain reaction. A synthetic organism is let loose and begins to terraform the planet. Now invaders are coming, aliens, and he has to race against time to escape the island and warn humanity so they can prepare the Earth to defend itself.
