Remaining proved reserves in the Gulf of Mexico Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) as of December 31, 1995, have been estimated to be 2.33 billion barrels of oil and 27.51trillion cubic feet of gas. These reserves are recoverable from 754 proved active fields. Unproved reserves as of December 31, 1995, have been estimated to be 1.20billion barrels of oil and 4.1 trillion cubic feet of gas. These reserves are associated with 76 unproved active fields. This makes a total of 830 active fields located in Federal waters.
