In this research work, modified microsponges have been developed that release drug in controlled manner and enhance the bioavailability of drug. This study presents a novel colon specific drug delivery system containing prednisolone. Colon targeting is naturally of value for the topical treatment of diseases of colon such as chron's disease, ulcerative colitis, colorectal cancer, and amebiasis.
