Poerim is een van de meest vreugdevolle en uitbundige feesten van het Jodendom. Op dit vreugdefeest wordt de redding van de Joden in Perzie tijdens koning Xerxes (Hebreeuws: Ahasveros) in 450 voor onze jaartelling herdacht.
