We are facing an epidemic of mental illnesses. Over the last few years, a systematic increase in the prevalence of mental disorders in various groups of population has been observed. The WHO reports that by 2020, mental depression will be the largest cause of disability worldwide. It also says that by 2025, mental illness will catch up with heart disease or may even overtake it as the biggest global health concern. Thus keeping these points in mind, we began our study on effectiveness of Yoga on general and mental health.

There are over 4.6 million individuals belonging to minority ethnic groups in the United Kingdom, with a quarter million aged 60 years or over. This study is about what healthy aging means to older people who have migrated to UK and the research questions is how do older people themselves define "comfortable, healthy aging"? The data is supplement by semi-structured interview and our study results are presented in this research.
