Silicon Carbide (SiC) is increasingly gaining attention as a potential accident-tolerant fuel clad, on account of its favorable thermo-mechanical, thermo-physical, and neutronic properties. The major limitations of such a cladding are currently associated with joining and hermetic sealing.
