Giovanni Francesco Straparola (1480 - 1557) was an Italian writer and fairy tale collector. He has been termed the progenitor of the literary form of the fairy tale. Straparola's main work is The Facetious Nights of Straparola (Le piacevoli notti, published 1550-1555), a collection of 75 stories. Modelled on Decamerone, it has participants of a 13-night party in the island of Murano, near Venice, tell each other stories that vary from bawdy to fantastic. It contains the first known written versions of many fairy tales.

Victorien Sardou (1831-1908) was a French dramatist who dominated the French stage in the late 19th century. He is best remembered today for his development, along with Eugene Scribe, of the well-made play. The form has a strong Neoclassical flavor, involving a tight plot and a climax that takes place close to the end of the play. His work A Scrap of Paper (Les Pattes de mouche; 1860) is a model of the well-made play. A foolish letter, written by a young girl, Louise, to her young lover, Prosper, lies hidden in their post-office, a statue. Three years later the girl returns as a Baron's wife....

Milutin Cihlar Nehajev (Senj 1880 - Zagreb 1931.) jedan je od najznacajnih predstavnika knjizevnosti hrvatske moderne. Pisao je romane, pripovijesti, novele te drame i poeziju. Njegov roman Bijeg karakterizira izrazira defabularizacija i pripovijedanje u tri tipa narativnog diskursa. Cesto ga izdvajaju kao najbolji roman hrvatske moderne.
