The author, a medical doctor, found her mother's writings in a few school exercise books. She was fascinated by the snippets of life described in the Northeast and especially in Jaffna. She also remembered her mother's recounting of many events in her life and the history of Jaffna she remembered. The author verified facts from many history books of Ceylon. This is a narration of all those memories.
