Denounces the fundamental flaws of poststructuralist "literary" criticism, which has strayed from literature itself to become a self-serving professional enterprise to the expense of the field at large and of students in particular. It then proposes a new definition and a structural description of our object of study which resolves the mediatic inconsistencies of the literary canon by including non-traditional narrative and poetic manifestation.
